Emecole 555 is an extremely thin two-component polyurea allowing the product to fully penetrate deep into a concrete crack. Emecole 555 gels rapidly in minutes, allowing it to set up in small cracks without draining through the slab. The product can be ground smooth and become almost invisible when properly coated.
Use of two dual cartridges of Emecole 555 (included with kit) with silica sand or dry, bagged play sand (not included) will cover up to approximately 100/200 linear feet (based on quarter inch by quarter inch opening).
Because Emecole 555 is intended to be extremely fast setting, Emecole's Slab Repair Kit will reduce working time, man hours and down time. Emecole's Slab Repair Kit provides critical crack repair while providing same day overlay project. Topcoats can be applied over the product in as little as 15 minutes.
Preparation for crack repair with sand: Concrete must have a minimum 28 day cure prior to application. Clean the cracked area to be injected. For optimum appearance, open up the crack a minimum of 1/4” wide by 1/4” deep using a crack chasing diamond blade. Vacuum out the crack to clean out any loose debris. The area must be dry. Clean the surface and remove all unsound concrete, dust and debris. Prepare surface using a twisted wire wheel for spalls. Cut perimeter of damage with dry diamond blade. Fill opening with silica sand. Apply E555 onto the sand, letting resin completely penetrate and wet the sand.
Application: Work the repair area quickly. Screed to finished grade and allow to set. For better finished repair surface, “over fill” the crack. Allow it to set and grind using a grinder fitted with a fine grit wheel. Work in circular motion to grind/smooth to finished grade.
Emecole 555 can be used as a grout. Use equal parts of A and B mixed together. Add two parts of sand by weight. Sand filler should be of low moisture content. Grit sizes from 30 to 60. Pea gravel or number 10 grit sand can be used on very large cracks or spalls.
Limitations: Do not use on wet surfaces or expose part A to moisture. This product is moisture sensitive. Product will bond damaged slabs together and may stop movement. Not intended for use where substrate movement is required, such as in control joints.
